Hope you all had a happy and healthy Christmas! I can't believe it's happened already! Anyway here I am back on the blog after a lovely festive time! So, I'm sure if you watch my videos that you'll know how much of a gel liner fan I am. I literally use it most days and find it such a brilliant product. Many people speak of the Bobbi Brown and MAC liners which, whilst I do agree that they are brilliant, they also have an amazing drug store competitor - the Maybelline Eye Studio gel eyeliner. I honestly think that it's just as good as its high end rivals but at half the price!
This liner comes in such great packaging, I love the silver lid it has as it makes it stand out from other gel liners. The quality of the liner itself is fantastic, it is an absolute dream to work with and glides on brilliantly and makes room for mistakes and errors as you can easily wipe it off with your finger as soon as it has been applied. Once you have your desired shape, you can rely on it to last all day but for it to simply be removed with your make-up remover. If you don't want to splash out on a high end dupe, then definitely check out this Maybelline alternative, at the moment it only comes in the black shade, but I'm sure this is what a lot of you are after anyway, for me it is perfect for everyday wear. It claims it lasts for 24 hours although I cannot vouch for this as it's not often I have make-up on for 24 hour stints, although I can assure you that it does last from when I put it on from when I take it off. At £7.99 I think it is a fantastic product, it comes with a brush as well, and although I wouldn't personally use it, it does do the job for getting a signature eyeliner look.
I used to use this gel eyeliner, unfortunately it dried out pretty fast and never lasted all day (it kind of faded away and became less intense). I no longer wanted to use gel eyeliner after that, but then I found the holy grail of gel eyeliners: Clinique Brush on eyeliner! It glides on like a dream and stays put all day long!

Which eyeliner brush do you use Tanya? I use the Maybelline brush & find it good, but would be interested in a better one? I bought this in metallic grey last year, in Australia & it's still going strong.

Hi Tanya, fan of your yt tutorials. I have to diasgree, I'm a makeup artist and I thought i'd try something new so gave this ago. I really liked the intensity of the product and the smooth ease of using it, but I found on myself and on clients it gives very bad transfer on to the eyelids everytime. I found this a huge negative especially on an ovcasion where I had to do thick winged liner over a bold eyeshadow and it completely messed up the eyeshadow and i had to remove and start again. I feel you have to wait a long time to let it set. I remember when you bought it and raved on about it and I was like noooo its really not good. Ive since bought the loreal gel liner and its great, I would never use the maybeline one again as I feel its an unprofessional product.

Tanya, does this liner ever rub off on the eyelid? Because that's the problem I have with most eyeliners and it drives me crazy! Love your videos! http://www.claireforthought.blogspot.com/

I love this eyeliner. It is defenitly my favorite for gel liner and I use it on a daily basis. I can create so many looks with it and like you said, its so easy to remove if I mess up! In the U.S it does come in black, brown, a dark gray, a deep purple, (and a green I believe.) I love your tutorials and am sooo excited that I actually use one of the products that you love!! :D

my favorite gel eye liner is definitely the l'oreal in blackest black! I've tried the maybelline one and it dried out really fast. (and in america it doesn't have the awesome silver lid but the l'oreal one does :)

I love your blog, Tanya! I truly trust your opinion and so many things you've recommended I've went out and purchased on my own and absolutely love! My best friend also always raves about this. I however find that is always transfers all over my lid and takes forever to dry up. I don't know if this makes a difference, but in the US the packaging is TOTALLY different than the one you have above. I don't know if they use a different formula perhaps?

Hey Tanya,
Like you I love this eyeliner so imagine my joy when i went into superdrug yesterday and saw it now comes in brown and violet! Obviously i had to give them both a good home :-D
The only issue i have with it is the brush but i bought a MAC one in the end because i wear gel liner all the time and it was a good investment.
Love your tutorials (even used one for my wedding make up) and i would love to see a Blair Waldorf from Gossip Girl one if you could. X

@K Hi K, I use a MAC 266 which is an angle brush or a 209 which is a pointed thin brush. I find these shapes work the best with liner and there are lots of similar brushes like them which are just as good :) xx

I found this a while ago and loved it at first, but it has dried out now, but I have had it for over a year and don't use it very much! I don't like the brush it comes with, I feel it gives a too thick line. I think I will try another gel liner with the mac brush you use. Thanks for your advice and videos.

I bought this gel eyeliner when it launched and initially loved it. However it soon dried out and became impossible to use. Not had much more success either with Clinique's quickliner ( though I really like the smudger). So now I'm alternating between Bourjois liner pinceau and Soap & Glory's Smoulder Kohl. Really disappointed with the Msybelline gel as it's a cute pot. Hope you have more success, Tanya!
