Where To Eat In LA

I travel to LA quite a lot for work and over the years I feel like I’ve really got to know the city. It’s not as easy as New York, as it’s all so spread out, it’s taken me much longer to feel comfortable there and to know where I’m going and what I’m doing! I don’t know about you guys, but I like to eat my way round a city and having favourite cafes to open up my laptop and work in whilst sipping on an iced Matcha latte (come on, it is LA) is definitely something that makes me feel more at home. I discovered some amazing places for breakfast, lunch, coffee, a green juice and dinner on my recent trip and I thought I would share them with you guys in a blog post. Now, the photography is not going to be amazing in this post as all photos were taken candidly on my iPhone, but think of this as more of a useful blog post than a pretty one, one to bookmark ready for your trip to LA!

Best Breakfast or Brunch:

I came across this restaurant whilst strolling down Abbott Kinney (the best street for shopping and eating in Venice) on a Sunday morning and instantly recognised it as I’d been to the New York one. However, I actually prefer this location. It’s bigger and has a much more fun vibe. The menu is predominantly plant-based and very healthy (green juices galore!) but I love the fact that you can still get eggs and avo on toast and cocktails if you feel like indulging in a mimosa at brunch!
Best Lunch:

Faith & Flower, Downtown

This is an absolutely gorgeous place to come for lunch in Downtown LA (probably would be great for breakfast or dinner too)! I ate a kale and pear salad with added chicken and it was delicious. If I wasn’t rushing straight off to a meeting I would have definitely tried the white chocolate bread pudding – how amazing does that sound?!

M Cafe, Beverly Hills

M Cafe focus on really nutritious food using the freshest ingredients and it’s really delicious. I love that you can sit outside on the street in the sunshine and have a healthy, but filling and seriously tasty lunch. I went for an iced coffee with some kind of healthy chocolate in it (all their food is sugar free and dairy free) and a tuna salad with kale which had the most incredible peanut dressing on it. It sounds quite random, but it was amazing!

Zinque, West Hollywood

Zinque is a seriously trendy place to eat a salad in the sun. It’s mostly outdoor seating, it’s really beautiful and it’s just off Melrose, so perfect if you fancy a spot of shopping after lunch! I was very impressed with my salad, the prawns were so delicious and the salad was fresh and lovely. If you check out their menu on their website, you’ll see there are loads of amazing dishes on offer, I need to go back!

Little Beach House, Malibu

Although you have to be a member to go to Little Beach House, I couldn’t not include it in this post as I had the most incredible lunch there! It might make some of you who live in the area need to apply for membership immediately. What could be better than sitting outside, right on the ocean, sipping Chateau Léoube Rosé and eating the most incredible fish with green curry sauce and cauliflower rice. I was in heaven.

Best Dinner:

Catch, West Hollywood

Due to Catch being such a known celebrity haunt, I actually didn’t have high hopes for the food, as the thing with LA is some restaurants can become more about ‘the scene’ than the quality of the food. However, Catch blew me away. Jim and I went for a date night and ordered SO MUCH FOOD. It’s a seafood restaurant and we had tacos, scallop gnocchi, sushi, smores pizza, some incredible brownie ice-cream tower, oh and the most amazing cocktails! Everything was brilliant and it was just such a fun night.

Best Coffee, Tea, Juicery:

Moon Juice, West Hollywood

There’s not much I can say about this place other than it is a very good spot to grab a ginger shot or a green juice!

Alfred’s Tea Room

Alfred’s Tea Room is just across the road from their famous coffee house and it is so sweet and beautiful! Be prepared to see at least 5 bloggers getting the perfect Instagram whilst you’re queuing for your tea, this is a VERY trendy spot right now. I ordered an iced Matcha latte and it was gorgeous.

Black Top Coffee, Downtown

This place has been on my list since Emily Ratajkowski mentioned it in an interview with Vanity Fair, so when I had a meeting Downtown, I ran in and grabbed an iced coffee and it was honestly the best coffee I’ve ever had. Hands down. The shop is tiny and it’s in a really cool arty area with the best ice-cream place (Salt & Straw) opposite.

I have so many more amazing places that I went to that I’m dying to recommend to you guys, but I’m going to wait until I go back to LA in June to go back to the ones I didn’t take any photos at and if I revisit any of the places featured above I promise to take better photos and add them to this blog post!
I hope you guys found this useful if you’re heading to LA anytime soon!
Love, Tanya
